You are going to copy the hosting information which is commonly something like: ab1234.hostgator.com, and also there will be your backup one, which will be something like cb5678.hostgator.com.

You are going to simply place your specs with Godaddy. Once insdie their Cpanel you will click on manage nameservers. Then you click the option “host my site on my host.” This is where you will paste your information from Hostgator. Then you click OK. It is as simple as that. It does usually take a couple hours for it to switch over, but then you are almost in business once that happens.

Add Domains and Sub domains

Another great thing about shared hosting is you can add sub domains. Sub domains are really easy to set up, you are just going to click add a sub domain (in your Cpanel), and then you will type in what you would like it to be. For example if you own a site at www.iownthissite.com then you when you add a sub domain it would something like www.my.pictures.iownthissite.com. This is great for when you have a lot of stuff on a site that is not related.

In order to finalize your added domain, once you have went through the steps of adding your DNS. You are going to simply click add domain and enter in the URL of it www.myurl.com. Hit submit and you are ready to get into your FTP and begin working on your webpage.
