Paid links are used to improve rankings of the websites. SEO experts are buying links for improving website ranking of their customers. Buying links are against the Google‘s webmasters’ guidelines. According to Google, paid links have a “nofollow” tag that prevents the search engines to follow the link and the Page Rank will get transferred. However, Google is not against the paid links that is used to generate traffic; however, remember these things before you contemplate on paid linking.

1: Ranking of the site – Before buying a link you need to evaluate the reputation of that particular website. Now Google gives less importance to the Page Rank than it did before.
2: Importance of the linking site – Long before, if you have linked your site with an irrelevant site with a high page rank it will increase the rankings on your keywords, but now look for the sites which have similar niche of your website and also share some of the keywords. It is important that the page links have to bring traffic to your site and traffic from paid links should not be regarded as a bonus.
3: Website quality – The quality of the website is also important as links from good websites are more useful than the poor quality sites. Check whether the good quality website has original text which is of good standard and the site is updating regularly.
4: Link position - The position of the link on the page will affect the use of that link. The link should be in the middle of the page between the main content and surrounded by different content on that page. Another apt position for the link is top of the page and on the side above the fold.
5: Usefulness of the link – Links are so popular that its popularity had a great effect on the Google search rankings. The amount and quality of inbound links to the website is link popularity. The search engine rankings and traffic of your website can be increased by having useful links.
6: Buying a link - It is necessary that a search engine spider should be able crawl into the link which you intend to buy.

So when you want to increase traffic and generate money and improve your site ranking go for linking but do it the smart way.
